Dear Friends,
I would like to thank everyone that has supported me in my endeavor to represent the people of my congressional district as well as my country in the United States Congress. We face many difficult issues in our country that must be addressed in earnest and with great fortitude because the actions taken in Washington today will determine the course of our nation for generations to come. Issues that effect Americans at every level of society. Issues like Social Security, Medicare, education, our environment and many more. I have been willing, against great odds, to take these fights on for a community and a country I love. However....
Here in Michigan we also face great trials. Workers are under attack. Teachers are under attack. And because Michigan's Public Act 4 (The Emergency Manager Law) even our local, duly elected governments are under attack. "Right to Work" and privatization of our schools are the next pieces of legislation that radical right wing forces like The Mackinaw Center and ALEC will try to force on the people of Michigan. And make no mistake, if they are successful in Michigan other states will follow.
I am please to announce that I have been asked, and I have accepted, to run for the Michigan House of Representatives, District 25. This will not be an easy race. The district is a 50/50 split and the Republican’s are ready to pull out all the stops to win this one. This is in every sense of the phrase a battleground district and it will take great resources in both manpower and money to win. Again, with your help, it is a fight I am ready and willing to take on.
In the very near future my new web site will be published, Friends of Henry Yanez, as well as new Face Book and Twitter sites. I hope that you will continue to follow along, volunteer and contribute to our new campaign in this fight for Michigan’s future.
With humility and sincerity,
Henry
